What Image Metadata Is
Image formats can store descriptive information alongside encoded image data, including camera details, dates, locations, captions, editing information, color profiles, and container instructions.
Remove GPS and Location Information
Recognized GPS and location fields inside EXIF are removed before the clean file is offered for download. The image and its coordinates are never sent to Savezly.
Remove Private EXIF Details
Recognized EXIF camera, device, date, software, author, and related private details are removed. A valid Orientation value may be retained by itself so the image continues to display correctly.
Remove XMP, IPTC, Captions, and Comments
Recognized standard and extended XMP, JPEG IPTC or Photoshop metadata, JPEG comments, and PNG text metadata are removed without decompressing or interpreting their descriptive content.
Preserved Orientation and Structure
Valid Orientation and structural information needed for safe image interpretation are preserved. Unknown proprietary container data may also remain when deleting it could harm compatibility.
Preserved Color Information
ICC profiles and defined PNG color information are preserved because removing them can change how colors are interpreted by browsers and image applications.
No Image Re-encoding
The encoded image data is preserved without re-encoding. The tool rewrites recognized metadata containers rather than decoding pixels, changing quality settings, or using Canvas.
JPEG, PNG, and Animated WebP
JPEG/JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 20 MiB are supported. Animated WebP files remain animated because their image and animation payloads are preserved. GIF and other image formats are not supported.

Format detection, structural validation, metadata removal, result verification, and download preparation happen locally in your browser with no remote parser, conversion, or validation service.
Verified Output and Download
The clean container is validated before download. The result shows its detected format, original and cleaned sizes, size change, and only the metadata categories proven to have been removed.

Does cleaning change image quality?
The encoded image data is copied without re-encoding. Metadata and container bytes change, but no quality setting or pixel conversion is applied.
Why is Orientation preserved?
Some camera photos rely on EXIF Orientation to display upright. Removing it without changing pixels could rotate or mirror the clean image.
Are color profiles preserved?
Yes. ICC profiles and defined color information are retained to preserve the intended color interpretation.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Processing happens locally in your browser, and your image and metadata are not uploaded to Savezly.
Does animated WebP stay animated?
Yes. WebP animation control, frame, timing, alpha, and loop data are preserved without flattening the image.
Does it remove every possible proprietary metadata field?
No. Unknown proprietary container data may be retained for safety and compatibility, so this is not a forensic scrubber.

What happens to the original image?
The original remains unchanged. Your browser creates a new file whose name ends in -clean.
