Selected Images
PNG images use automatic lossless compression and do not use the quality setting.
How to Compress Images
- Choose or drop JPG, PNG, or static WebP images.
- Choose JPG and WebP quality. PNG uses automatic lossless optimization.
- Compress the images and download each meaningful result individually.
Compress JPG Images
JPG compression re-encodes the image at your selected quality. Lower quality can create a smaller file but may introduce visible compression artifacts.
Compress PNG Images
PNG files are optimized directly without converting them to another image format or changing their pixel dimensions.
Compress WebP Images
Static WebP images are re-encoded at the selected quality. Animated WebP files are not supported.
Lossless PNG Compression
PNG optimization preserves the rendered pixels, including transparency. The original bit-depth representation and internal PNG chunk structure are not guaranteed to remain unchanged.
Image Quality and File Size
JPG and WebP quality affects their output size and visual detail. Results vary by image, and an output is offered only when it saves at least 1% and 1 KiB.
Original Image Dimensions
Compression does not resize, crop, upscale, or change the aspect ratio of an accepted image.
Image Metadata
Image metadata and color-profile representation may be removed, recompressed, normalized, or changed during compression.
Private Browser-Based Compression
Your images are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to Savezly or sent to a remote compression service.
Image Compression Limits
Select up to 20 images, with a maximum of 20 MiB each and 50 MiB combined. Images may be up to 8192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. General decoded content is limited to 64 megapixels, with a 32 megapixel PNG session limit and 100 MiB retained-output limit.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I compress an image?
Choose supported images, adjust JPG and WebP quality if needed, select Compress Images, and download each available result.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, JPEG, PNG, and static WebP are supported. Animated WebP and other formats are rejected.
Does compressing an image reduce its dimensions?
No. Accepted images keep their decoded width and height.
Is PNG compression lossless?
Yes at the rendered-pixel level. PNG dimensions, colors, and transparency are preserved, although internal representation can change.
Can JPG or WebP quality change?
Yes. JPG and WebP use the selected quality and may lose visual detail. PNG ignores this setting.
What happens if the compressed image is not meaningfully smaller?
The tool reports that it is already efficiently compressed and does not offer a larger or negligible result.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to Savezly or a remote compression service.
Is image metadata preserved?
Not necessarily. Metadata and color-profile representation may be removed, recompressed, normalized, or changed.
What are the file and image limits?
You can select up to 20 files, each up to 20 MiB and 50 MiB combined. Each image is limited to 8192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels, with additional session limits.
Why can large PNG files take longer?
Lossless PNG optimization performs substantial local computation. PNG images above 8 megapixels may take longer on some devices.
