How to Crop an Image

1. Choose one JPG, PNG, or static WebP image.
2. Move or resize the crop area, choose an aspect ratio, or enter exact pixel values.
3. Select Crop Image, then download the verified result.

Choose an Exact Crop Area

Use the X, Y, Width, and Height controls to define the selection in whole oriented-image pixels. The crop always remains within the source boundaries and can be as small as one pixel.

Crop by Aspect Ratio

Choose Freeform, Original, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, or 9:16. A ratio changes only the crop geometry and does not resize the source image.

Crop JPG Images

JPG and JPEG images are orientation-normalized, cropped, and re-encoded as JPEG at a fixed quality setting. The result uses a .jpg extension.

Crop PNG Images and Transparency

PNG output uses the browser's native lossless encoder and preserves browser-decoded transparent and semi-transparent pixels without adding an opaque background.

Crop Static WebP Images

Static WebP images remain WebP and preserve decoded transparency where supported. Animated WebP is rejected because this tool does not preserve animation.

Image Dimensions and Pixel Accuracy

The visible editor is scaled for the page, while the authoritative crop coordinates remain integers in the orientation-normalized source image. Output dimensions exactly match the selected Width and Height.

Image Quality After Cropping

Cropping keeps the selected pixel dimensions. PNG output is lossless, while JPEG and WebP require re-encoding at a fixed quality of 0.90, so compression and file size can change.

Metadata and Color Profiles

Metadata, thumbnails, GPS data, dates, comments, ICC profiles, and HDR or wide-gamut information are not intentionally preserved and may be removed, normalized, or changed. This is not a forensic metadata-removal tool.

Private Browser-Based Processing

Validation, decoding, cropping, encoding, and result verification run locally in your browser. Your image is not sent to Savezly or an external image-processing service.
